Sharan Kaur recently completed a degree in " Ba (Hons) Fashion Design” gaining a FIRST Class Honours in 2012 at Bradford School of Art and Media.
Throughout her three years Sharan has worked on numerous projects, such as LIVE briefs, commissioned projects, freelance design, accessories, fashion shows, and mentoring students.
Sharan has always been fascinated in exploring her creative interests, whilst doing her A-levels Sharan won a local competition sponsored by Bradford Council celebrating Black History Month and her work was featured at Impressions Gallery. She also exhibited her work in a local art shop, which was featured in Hailfax Evening Courier. She then completed an 'Art and Design Foundation Course' and this led her to focus her creative thinking for her love of fashion.
Whilst completing her degree Sharan was asked to take part in a number of local charity and youth functions in 2010 and 2011, this gave her the opportunity to organize and delegate all three shows whilst having all her designs cat walked. This led to her designs being featured in the 'Telegraph & Argus' newspaper celebrating both the fashion show and the event.
Sharan has always demonstrated a love and interest for all things creative. In 2011 she designed a small jewellery line, which she had manufactured, marketed and sold herself as part of a fundraising scheme towards her degree and final collection.
Sharan has successfully won many competitions, two most recent competitions of 2011/2012 was an international competition sponsored by 'Club Monaco' which resulted in her work being featured on 'Culture Club Dazed & Digital Blog. The second competition sponsored by 'Geeks & Stitches' gave Sharan the chance to have her design mass-produced and sold at both 'Clothes Show Live' and 'ASOS Marketplace'.
Her most recent success was having the opportunity to be asked to work with 'Freemans Grattan Holdings' a well-established fashion catalogue. Sharan was asked to design and manufacture a garment, which represented the fashions of 1912, the garment was made from a digital print, which Sharan also designed. Her garment, along with other designers was then included in the company's fashion show held at 'National Media Museum' in July 2012.
Sharan believes she is lucky enough to have had such a positive and rewarding journey so far in her career. Since graduating Sharan has started to design and style for creative shoots as well as working on her 2013 collection.
